Noskova and Muchová Lead Czechia to 12th BJK Cup Crown
Czechia defeated first-time finalists Ukraine 2-0 in Shenzhen to claim a 12th Billie Jean King Cup title, with Noskova saving two match points before closing out.

Muchová clinical, Noskova dramatic — Czechia take the Cup
Czechia are the 2026 Billie Jean King Cup champions. A 2-0 victory over first-time finalists Ukraine at the Shenzhen Bay Sports Centre Arena on Sunday gave Karolína Muchová and Linda Noskova a 12th title for their country in the competition — and ended an eight-year wait since Czechia's last triumph in 2018.
Muchová set the tone in rubber one with a controlled 6-2, 6-3 defeat of Anhelina Kalinina completed in just 70 minutes. She served at 72 per cent first delivery, won 24 of her 28 first-serve points, and added eight aces. Kalinina found virtually no foothold against a performance that, for its sustained precision, ranks among Muchová's finest in a Czech vest.
The second rubber produced a different kind of narrative. Noskova took the opening set 6-3 against Ukrainian captain Elina Svitolina, but the 31-year-old Ukrainian showed the resilience that has defined her career: she saved two match points in the second set and dragged Noskova into a tiebreak. The Czech 21-year-old kept her nerve and eventually converted at her third opportunity, winning the breaker 7-5 to seal both the tie and the trophy.
Ukraine's historic campaign falls just short
Ukraine's presence in the Billie Jean King Cup final was unprecedented — the first time in the nation's history that they had reached the championship match. Their path included a 2-1 defeat of Belgium in the quarterfinals and a commanding 2-0 sweep of Italy in the semi-finals. Svitolina drove the team throughout, her form and competitive edge elevating those around her across an extraordinary fortnight.
Defeat at the final hurdle against a Czechia team of exceptional depth will inevitably sting. But Ukraine have entered a new chapter in their team tennis history, and the result confirms a programme that will only grow stronger given the players in their pipeline.
Strýcová joins elite company
Team captain Barbora Strýcová completed a remarkable personal journey on Sunday. She became only the fourth woman in the history of the competition to win the Billie Jean King Cup as both player and captain — an exclusive honour that speaks to the continuity of Czech excellence over the past two decades.
"To be honest, it was my dream which I didn't say out loud. But yeah, it happened," Strýcová said following the team's celebration.
A generation at its peak
With 12 championships, Czechia now sit second in the all-time BJK Cup standings, trailing only the United States (18 titles). Both Noskova, 21, and Muchová, 28, had already shared an all-Czech Wimbledon final in 2026 before adding this team trophy. Together they represent one of the most formidable national combinations in the sport. Both will be in action at the WTA Beijing Open next week, arriving with the title still fresh and form that will make them genuine threats in any draw.
